Can you believe Spring is around the corner? (we hope)

Thank you so much to the wonderful parents that celebrated Valentine’s Day with us.  We had a super party and a lot of fun.

Besides giving Valentine hearts to our friends, we also learned about our own hearts.  We made posters about how we need exercise, rest, and healthy foods to eat to keep our hearts healthy.

We have studied two great presidents.  We read books and watched short videos on the smartboard about Abe Lincoln and George Washington.  We wrote stories about which president was our favorite.  We also made portraits of each one.

We have read books and watched short videos about famous black people and all the great things they did.  First graders were upset with the segregation laws and slavery.  Harriet Tubman was a favorite brave, black person in our classroom.  We enjoyed learning about Ruby Bridges and Rosa Parks too.

We saw a short video called the Tooth Defenders.  We did a few activities and talked about our teeth.  We know it is very important to take care of our teeth throughout our life time.

Congratulations to all first graders for writing and illustrating a Young Author story.  Our classroom winner will be announced soon.  GOOD JOB!!

Congratulations to Brooklyn Voegeli and Beau Myers for representing our class in the spelling bee.  Great job!!

We look forward to seeing you at open house on Thursday, March  12.  Remember the concert is at 6:00.  Please visit our classroom after the concert.

Please continue to help your child with his/her homework.  We have one month left of Book-It reading.  Keep checking for important notes in their folders.  Thank you for all you do!!
